During the Coronavirus pandemic, better known as COVID 19, it could be difficult trying to imagine the future and picking up where the world left off, back in March. Even though it may not happen tomorrow or next week, are you prepared for returning back to your normal life and business practices? The COVID comeback will be an adjustment for all, but here are some tips to help ease the transition;
COMMUNICATE
Communicating your efforts with your employees and the public is going to be a crucial step to prepare for your return. Take the time to update your customers on your reopening date and hours of operations, and explain what steps you’ll take to get back to business as usual. This can be done using signage, social media, or an e-Newsletter. It is important tothat you keep your communication clear and consistent with updates following opening and returning back to work – this is an uncertain time for us all, so communication is key.
REBUILD
Rebuilding your business’ physical layout as well as your employees morale should be at the top of your comeback checklist. If you are in a public or office setting you may want to continue practicing social distancing by separating your employees using alternate desks, creating dividers for a physical barrier, or seating customers at every other table if you are in the hospitality industry. Your new normal should still consist of all the safety regulations and precautions followed during the pandemic, especially when working in an environment with constant interaction.
Another aspect of rebuilding to keep in mind is that of your employees morale. Motivation may not be as high due to a coworker being laid off, no longer being able to work in pajamas, or simply the toll the pandemic has taken on us all. Try incorporating music, team building (when regulations permit), giveaways – anything to regain and keep the spirits high.
As news and life appear to change almost daily, so will consumers needs and behavior once returning to “normal”. Being able to measure, pivot, and adapt to these challenging times will showcase the resilience and perseverance of you and your company. Remember, we are all in this together.
